Product Description

716-140432-002 VM600 IOCN Mk2 Rear Terminal Communication Card

1. Product Description

716-140432-002 is the IOCN Mk2 rear terminal card exclusively matched with Meggitt CPUM Mk2 series CPU boards (200-595-041-113, 200-595-045-114) for VM600 Mk2 machinery protection and condition monitoring rack system. It is a rear-mounted dual-slot daughter card installed behind the front CPUM controller, serving as the external communication wiring interface of the rack master unit, compatible with ABE040 and ABE042 6U 19-inch standard VM600 racks.

  • Directly plugs onto the rear connector of CPUM Mk2 mainboard to expand isolated multi-channel communication ports for plant control interconnection.
  • Integrates dual isolated Ethernet ports for redundant Modbus TCP communication, RS485 terminals for Modbus RTU, and Profinet IO signal terminals with 1500V galvanic isolation to resist industrial EMI interference.
  • Equipped with terminal screw blocks for field wiring, dedicated grounding terminals for shielding cable connection to eliminate ground loop noise in power plant cabinets.
  • PCB coated with protective conformal coating to adapt to high-dust, high-humidity and corrosive thermal power plant cabinet environments.
  • Passive backplane-powered via CPUM Mk2, no independent power circuit; matched with all standard CPUM Mk2 variants without firmware modification.
  • Mechanical locking design ensures stable rear connection during rack hot-swap of front CPUM card, avoiding communication interruption caused by loose contact.

2. Core Product Functions

  • External Communication Expansion Interface: Convert internal digital bus signals from CPUM Mk2 into standard industrial fieldbus signals, providing physical wiring terminals for Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU and Profinet IO to connect DCS, PLC and industrial monitoring workstations.
  • Electrical Isolation & Noise Suppression: Built-in isolated transformer and optocoupler circuits between low-voltage rack control logic and external field cables, blocking high-frequency electromagnetic noise from nearby high-power excitation cabinets and HV switchgear.
  • Redundant Network Support: Dual independent Ethernet channels enable redundant network architecture, automatically switching communication links when one cable fails to ensure uninterrupted vibration data transmission to plant control systems.
  • Shield Ground Distribution: Centralized grounding terminals for all communication cable shielding layers, standardizing cabinet grounding specifications to reduce measurement deviation of vibration acquisition channels.
  • CPUM Signal Transmission Bridge: Transmit DCS remote commands, parameter modification instructions and alarm reset signals from external systems back to the front CPUM Mk2 controller via isolated bus channels.
  • Wiring Fault Feedback: Detect open circuit and short circuit of external communication wiring, transmit link failure fault codes to CPUM for local LCD display and DCS alarm reporting.

3. Typical Application Scenarios

  • Thermal power plant steam turbine-generator VM600 monitoring racks, paired with CPUM Mk2 to transmit shaft vibration, axial displacement and overspeed data to unit DCS, cooperating with BHEL UN series AVR excitation control racks.
  • Combined cycle gas turbine monitoring cubicles for continuous machinery protection data upload to plant distributed control systems.
  • Large hydroelectric generator sets, realizing redundant communication of shaft vibration and thrust bearing monitoring signals.
  • Petrochemical and steel industrial heavy-duty compressors, blowers and rotating equipment condition monitoring systems.
  • Onshore and offshore captive power plant auxiliary machinery monitoring cabinets under strong EMI industrial environments.

4. Common Issues & Troubleshooting

Issue 1: Intermittent loss of communication between VM600 rack and DCS

Root Causes: Loose screw terminals on 716-140432-002 terminal blocks, poor shielding grounding, oxidized rear mating connector between IOCN and CPUM. Solutions: Retighten all communication wiring terminals, recheck shield ground connection, clean the mating connector with anti-static cloth and re-seat the IOCN card.

Issue 2: Single Ethernet channel communication failure, redundant link cannot switch automatically

Root Causes: Damaged internal Ethernet isolation circuit on 716-140432-002, mismatched network parameter configuration on CPUM. Solutions: Verify network redundancy settings via VibroSight software, replace the IOCN terminal card if internal circuit damage is confirmed.

Issue 3: Severe signal noise leading to frequent TMR measurement deviation alarms

Root Causes: Unconnected cable shielding at IOCN grounding terminals, broken internal isolation filter components of the terminal card. Solutions: Connect all communication cable shields to dedicated ground terminals, replace 716-140432-002 if filter circuits degrade.

Issue 4: CPUM front panel reports IOCN communication fault code

Root Causes: Improper insertion of rear IOCN card, damaged mating pin contacts, abnormal 24VDC power supply of front CPUM. Solutions: Power off the rack, reinsert the IOCN Mk2 card fully, inspect rack power output voltage, replace faulty terminal card.

Issue 5: Modbus RTU communication timeout on RS485 channel

Root Causes: Incorrect baud rate and station address settings, loose RS485 wiring terminals on 716-140432-002. Solutions: Re-calibrate Modbus RTU parameters in VibroSight, retighten RS485 signal and ground terminals on the rear terminal card.
