Manufactured by German safety automation brand HIMA, the X-AI3201 is a high-density analog input module specially designed for the HIMax programmable electronic safety system (PES) that meets SIL3 functional safety standards. Equipped with 32 common-ground analog input channels, it mainly collects 0/4–20mA standard current signals from field transmitters with a 200Ω built-in measuring shunt resistor. The module adopts full electrical isolation design between field signals, 24VDC power supply and system backplane bus to eliminate ground loop interference. It supports short-circuit-proof built-in transmitter power supply for two-wire and three-wire sensors, with 12-bit high-precision A/D conversion and 2ms fast sampling cycle. Installed in general slots of HIMax base plate rack (excluding dedicated system bus slots), it realizes real-time data interaction with safety CPU via rack backplane, and completes full-channel self-diagnosis and fault upload to ensure stable operation of safety interlock loops in harsh industrial environments.

- 32 independent analog current input channels, compatible with 4–20mA and 0–20mA industrial transmitters for temperature, pressure, flow and liquid level measurement
- 12-bit high-resolution analog-to-digital conversion, converting field analog signals into digital engineering values readable by HIMax safety CPU
- Built-in short-circuit protected transmitter power supply, each channel can supply power to field two-wire sensors without external auxiliary power modules
- Complete galvanic isolation between field side and system bus to suppress common-mode electromagnetic interference over 60dB at 50/60Hz frequency band
- Comprehensive per-channel fault diagnosis including wire break detection, short-circuit detection, signal over-range and under-range alarm
- Real-time measured value upload via high-speed backplane bus, sampling cycle as low as 2ms to meet fast-response safety control loop requirements
- Support user-defined scaling parameters to convert raw digital values into actual physical units such as ℃, bar and m³/h in safety logic programs
- Front panel LED indicators for module running status, hardware fault and individual channel abnormal alarm for on-site rapid troubleshooting
- Support redundant system configuration and hot-swap replacement without shutting down the whole safety rack under qualified redundant architecture
Conformal coated circuit board to resist dust, moisture and oil mist in chemical, power and petrochemical cabinet environments

- Q: Can X-AI3201 directly read 0–10V voltage transmitters?
A: This module is designed for current signal input only (0/4–20mA). External conversion circuit must be added to convert voltage signals to standard 4–20mA before wiring. - Q: Why do multiple channels continuously trigger wire-break fault alarms after wiring all transmitters?
A: Common causes include loose terminal wiring, damaged two-wire transmitter internal circuit, insufficient load resistance or abnormal internal transmitter power supply of the module. - Q: Is hot swap allowed for X-AI3201 in single non-redundant HIMax rack configuration?
A: Hot swap is forbidden for single-module non-redundant racks; power off the entire rack before disassembly to avoid safety system tripping. Hot swap is only supported under redundant dual-module architecture. - Q: What is the maximum operating temperature range of the X-AI3201 module?
A: Standard operating temperature range is 0°C ~ +60°C; storage temperature ranges from -40°C to +85°C, non-condensing humidity below 95%. - Q: Does X-AI3201 meet SIL safety certification requirements?
A: The module itself supports SIL3 safety integrity level evaluation when matched with complete HIMax redundant safety architecture, complying with IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 process safety standards. - Q: How to solve severe jitter and unstable floating measured values of all analog channels?
A: Check field cable shielding grounding status, confirm correct common-ground wiring of AI negative terminals, enable digital filter parameters in HIMax configuration software, and inspect ground loop isolation integrity of the module.
