Product Description

Woodward DSS-2 8800-1001 REV D (Dual Channel Digital Speed Switch)

Product Description

The Woodward DSS-2 (8800-1001 REV D) is a compact two-channel digital speed switch for engine and rotating machinery protection. It receives pulse signals from a magnetic pickup (MPU) sensor, monitors shaft speed, and drives two independent Form-C relay outputs. Typical functions include starter motor disable, overspeed shutdown, underspeed protection, and auxiliary speed alarm. REV D is a common hardware revision of this unit. It supports both local potentiometer adjustment and PC configuration via Woodward ACT calibration tool.

FAQ

Q: What is the difference between REV D and other revisions?
A: REV D is the mature hardware revision, mainly component and PCB layout optimization; core function and wiring definition remain compatible with earlier revisions.

Q: Can DSS-2 work without the ACT calibration tool?
A: Yes, basic speed thresholds can be set directly via the front potentiometers; ACT is only needed for advanced functions such as latch reset and relay logic inversion.

Q: Does it replace the old single-channel speed switch?
A: Yes, it provides two independent speed thresholds in one unit, saving cabinet space for overspeed + starter disable dual protection requirements.
