ABB REU610 Voltage Protection Relay
Product Description
REU610 is a multifunction voltage IED from ABB Relion 610 series, used for voltage protection, measurement and supervision in medium voltage utility and industrial power systems. It adopts pluggable withdrawable design for simple installation and replacement. This legacy relay has been discontinued since 2017 and is widely used as spare part for existing switchgear protection systems.

Product Functions
- Two-stage overvoltage and undervoltage protection with definite-time or IDMT curves
- Two-stage residual overvoltage protection for earth fault supervision
- Optional negative sequence overvoltage protection for unbalanced voltage faults
- Programmable digital inputs and relay outputs for trip, alarm and interlock logic
- Supports busbar automatic transfer and anti-islanding disconnection control
- Built-in measurement, fault recording and self-diagnosis functions
Applications
- Busbar voltage supervision for medium voltage distribution substations
- Transformer overvoltage and overexcitation backup protection
- Motor undervoltage protection and capacitor bank monitoring
- Earth fault detection for isolated neutral power networks
- Industrial plant, power station and oil & gas distribution switchgear
FAQ
Q: Is ABB REU610 still in production?
A: No, REU610 has been discontinued by ABB since 2017, it is mainly supplied as spare part for old protection systems.
Q: What is its core protection principle?
A: It monitors phase voltage, residual voltage and negative sequence voltage to trigger trip or alarm for abnormal voltage conditions.
Q: Can it work with REF610 and REM610?
A: Yes, REU610, REF610 and REM610 belong to the same Relion 610 series and can cooperate in one switchgear system.
