Product Description

KONGSBERG RMP201‑8 Remote Multipurpose I/O Module

Brief Product Description

RMP201‑8 is an 8‑channel remote multipurpose I/O module for KONGSBERG K‑Chief and AutoChief maritime automation systems. Each channel is software configurable for digital input, digital output, analog input or analog output, delivering flexible signal interface for ship‑board distributed monitoring and control. It communicates with main controller via redundant RBUS field bus, providing galvanic isolation and robust performance against vibration, humidity and heavy electromagnetic interference in marine and offshore environments. This field‑mounted I/O unit collects sensor data and executes control commands for engine rooms, auxiliary machinery and safety alarm systems. As a legacy marine automation spare part, it is supplied as fully‑tested surplus and refurbished units for maintenance and retrofit of existing KONGSBERG marine automation installations.

Core Product Functions

  • Eight independently software‑configurable channels supporting DI, DO, AI (4‑20mA / 0‑10V) and AO signal types
  • High‑precision 16‑bit analog‑to‑digital conversion for pressure, temperature, level and flow measurement from field transmitters
  • Redundant RBUS communication interface for reliable data exchange between field node and central system controller
  • Galvanic signal isolation reduces ground‑loop noise and improves EMC performance under harsh marine conditions
  • Per‑channel diagnostics for open‑circuit, short‑circuit and signal over‑range fault detection and alarm reporting
  • Process discrete feedback signals from limit switches, interlock contacts and execute output to solenoid valves and relays
  • Front‑panel LED indicators for quick local status and fault diagnosis during vessel on‑site commissioning
  • Compact field‑mount design optimizes cabling layout inside vessel engine‑room and local equipment cabinets
  • Support system configuration and parameter download through KONGSBERG marine automation engineering software

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

  • Q: Module reports channel fault after installing RMP201‑8?
A: Check field sensor wiring, loop power supply, channel configuration mode, cable integrity and terminal screw tightness in marine vibration environment.
  • Q: RMP201‑8 shows offline and cannot communicate with K‑Chief main controller?
A: Inspect redundant RBUS bus cable connections, bus terminal termination resistor, module 24VDC power supply and network address setting.
  • Q: Can I re‑assign different signal types for individual channels on RMP201‑8?
A: Yes, each channel supports software‑based re‑configuration; download updated parameter set after modification and verify all signal readings.
  • Q: Can RMP201‑8 work with non‑Kongsberg third‑party marine automation systems?
A: It relies on proprietary RBUS bus protocol, only compatible with KONGSBERG K‑Chief / AutoChief series marine automation platforms.
  • Q: Is KONGSBERG RMP201‑8 available for brand‑new shipbuilding projects?
A: This legacy multipurpose I/O module has reached end‑of‑life. Only surplus and fully‑tested refurbished units are offered for existing‑vessel maintenance and retrofit tasks.
