BHEL UN0662AV1 Excitation Control Module (Part No. 69203NB1AA)
1. Product Description
UN0662AV1 with part number 69203NB1AA is a rack-mounted VME-format excitation control PCB designed and manufactured by BHEL for DATATRONIC turbine & generator control systems. It belongs to the UN066x series alongside UN0661AV1 (69203GB1AA). While UN0661AV1 handles voltage regulation sampling, UN0662AV1 focuses on excitation current closed-loop control for synchronous generators. The module adopts single-slot vertical plug-in structure with fully conformal coated PCB to resist dust, humidity and corrosive flue gas inside power plant control cabinets. It supports simplex and triple redundant TMR safety architectures for critical power generation units. Powered by 24VDC rack bus supply, it features dual-side ejector latches for hot-swap maintenance without full rack power shutdown. The front metal panel integrates multi-channel LED status indicators and test terminals for on-site calibration, and the rear high-density VME gold finger interface realizes high-speed data exchange with the rack master CPU. It complies with industrial EMC and power plant safety standards.

2. Core Product Functions
- Field excitation current real-time sampling from generator rotor excitation loop via shunt transformers
- Dual closed-loop control coordination: cooperates with UN0661AV1 voltage regulator to execute voltage-current compound AVR control
- Adjustable excitation current limit protection, suppress over-excitation and under-excitation operating conditions of generators
- Thyristor firing pulse amplification and output, precisely controlling conduction angle of excitation rectifier bridges
- Multi-level fault detection: excitation loop open/short circuit, overcurrent, PT signal loss, internal power supply failure
- TMR redundant cross-voting: synchronize excitation current measurement data with two identical UN0662AV1 modules to eliminate single-point measurement deviation
- Galvanic isolation between high-current excitation field wiring and internal digital logic to block strong EMI interference from generator transformers
- Transmit real-time excitation current, firing angle, limit status and fault codes to the main controller via VME backplane bus, upload trend logs and SOE alarms to plant DCS monitoring system
3. Application Scenarios
- Coal-fired thermal power plant steam turbine generator excitation control racks
- Combined cycle gas turbine power plant generator AVR compound regulation systems
- Large hydropower station synchronous generator excitation protection control cabinets
- Refinery, petrochemical and offshore platform self-generation turbine control panels
- Captive power plants for heavy industry with triple redundant generator safety control systems
4. Common Troubleshooting & Typical Issues
- Excitation Current Loss Fault Alarm Triggered Continuously
Causes: Damaged excitation current shunt sensor, loose terminal block wiring, burnt internal signal conditioning circuit on UN0662AV1. Solutions: Inspect continuity of current sampling cables, retighten all field wiring terminals, replace faulty signal channels or module.
- Generator Excitation Hunting & Unstable Current Fluctuation
Causes: Mismatched PID loop parameters between UN0661AV1 and UN0662AV1, unshielded excitation sampling cables, severe high-frequency EMI interference. Solutions: Synchronize compound AVR tuning parameters, install double-shielded twisted pair wiring and connect cable shielding to cabinet protective ground.
- TMR Voting Discrepancy Alarm in Triple Redundant Rack
Causes: Uneven attenuation of three excitation current sampling loops, inconsistent calibration offsets of three UN0662AV1 modules. Solutions: Unify calibration parameters for all three excitation control cards, standardize cable length and shielding specifications for field sampling loops.
- Module FAIL LED Steady Red, Unrecognized by Rack Main CPU
Causes: Oxidized dirty VME backplane gold fingers, unstable 24VDC rack DC power supply, corrupted on-board firmware. Solutions: Clean PCB contact pins with anti-static cloth, stabilize rack power voltage, reload factory firmware or replace defective UN0662AV1 module.
- No Excitation Pulse Output, Generator Voltage Cannot Build Up
Causes: Internal pulse driver circuit burnout on UN0662AV1, open-circuit of thyristor trigger wiring. Solutions: Measure firing pulse signals via front test terminals, repair broken excitation wiring or substitute the faulty module.
