Description of the Medium Voltage Transmission System in ABB ACS 6000 3BHS212794E01

The ABB ACS 6000 3BHS212794E01 is a medium-voltage inverter specifically designed for high-power motors (3-36MW). It adopts a modular architecture and IGCT semiconductor technology. 

The core advantages are as follows:<br>1. Four-quadrant operation capability: Equipped with an active rectifier unit (ARU), it enables smooth switching of motor forward and reverse rotations, reducing grid harmonics (in accordance with IEC 61000-2-4 standards), 

and minimizing interference to other factory equipment;<br>2. Full-speed high power factor: Through line voltage regulation technology, the power factor remains stable at 0.95 (diode rectification) or 1.0 (active rectification) throughout the entire speed range, 

reducing grid losses and saving 10%-15% of electricity annually;<br>3. High reliability: The closed-loop water-cooling system (WCU) provides stable heat dissipation for the core power components, suitable for ambient temperatures ranging from 0 to 40°C, 

and offers options for IP32/IP42/IP54 protection levels to meet the requirements of harsh environments such as mines and chemical plants;<br>4. 

Precise control: Based on the DTC control platform, the torque response speed is 50% faster than traditional inverters, enabling precise control of high-precision equipment such as rolling mills and mine hoists, reducing the defect rate of products.

The drive has a flexible modular design with standard and optional cabinet units. Each cabinet unit is dedicated to a specific function.

1) Active rectifier unit (ARU): Self-commutated, 6-pulse, 3-level voltage source inverter with IGCT technology 

2) Drive control panel for local operation: Keypad with multi-language display, main supply on/off push buttons, and emergency-off push button 

3) Inverter unit (INU): Self-commutated, 6-pulse, 3-level voltage source inverter with IGCT technology

 4) Capacitor bank unit (CBU): DC capacitors for smoothing the intermediate DC voltage 

5) Water cooling unit (WCU): Supplies deionized water for cooling the main power components 

6) Terminal unit (TEU) and control unit (COU): Contains the power terminals and the control swing frame 

7) Braking chopper unit (BCU), resistor braking unit (RBU) or voltage limiter unit (VLU): Optional cabinet units 

8) Excitation unit (EXU): Optional cabinet unit that supplies a synchronous motor with excitation

Consists of integrated gate-commutated thyristors (IGCTs), diodes and clamp capacitors. The phase modules are identical in construction for all power ratings.
