Product Description

GE IS220PDOAH1B PDOA 12‑Channel Relay Discrete Output Pack for Mark VIe Control System

Product Description

The IS220PDOAH1B is a compact, conformal‑coated intelligent discrete output I/O pack developed by GE for the Mark VIe distributed Speedtronic turbine control system. It provides 12 monitored relay output channels and dual redundant IONet Ethernet ports for communication with Mark VIe controllers. The module works together with external relay terminal boards and supports simplex or TMR triple‑modular redundant configurations. Designed for continuous operation in power plant cabinets with vibration, dust, humidity and heavy electromagnetic interference, it is widely used as spare replacement hardware for gas/steam turbine and generator safety control racks.

Product Functions

  • Receive digital control commands from Mark VIe main controllers over dual IONet Ethernet network
  • Drive 12 independent relay outputs to actuate solenoid valves, contactors, trip relays and auxiliary equipment
  • Built‑in relay status feedback monitoring to detect open or failed output circuits
  • Overload and short‑circuit protection for each channel to avoid cascading damage to field devices
  • Transmit channel diagnostic status and fault alarms back to the turbine controller in real time
  • Front‑panel LED indicators display power, network link, communication and fault warning status
  • Complete onboard hardware self‑diagnosis for Ethernet transceivers, power supply and output drive circuits

Application Scenarios

  • Gas turbine and steam turbine Mark VIe control cabinets in thermal power combined‑cycle plants
  • Generator excitation racks, emergency trip systems and safety interlock control loops
  • Off‑shore oil & gas platform turbine, compressor and ESD emergency shutdown systems
  • Natural gas pipeline compressor skids and petrochemical large rotating machinery control
  • Wind farm distributed turbine control and condition monitoring cabinets
  • Spare replacement and technical retrofit of aging GE Mark VIe I/O control hardware

Common Problems

  • Intermittent IONet communication dropout:RJ45 connector oxidation, damaged network cable, loose wiring or network chip aging
  • Individual channel no relay actuation:burned drive circuit, terminal corrosion, relay contact wear or field wiring fault
  • Persistent output feedback fault alarm:worn external relay, loose feedback wiring or degraded internal monitoring circuit
  • Module cannot be recognized by Mark VIe controller:incorrect network node address, incompatible firmware or hardware circuit damage
  • False safety interlock or unexpected relay switching:electromagnetic noise interference, unstable 24V auxiliary power or ground‑loop disturbance
  • LED indicators remain off after power‑on:onboard power circuit failure, blown internal fuse or abnormal input power supply
  • Continuous hardware diagnostic alarm:dust accumulation, poor cabinet ventilation, overheating and aging electrolytic capacitors on PCB
