Product Description

GE IC660BBS103 Genius 8‑Circuit Isolated I/O Block

Product Description

The IC660BBS103 is a GE Fanuc Genius distributed isolated I/O block for Series 90‑30 PLC systems. It provides 8 configurable discrete channels divided into four optically isolated pairs, supporting 115VAC or 125VDC field wiring. This version does not include failed‑switch diagnostic function. It adopts 1500V block‑to‑block isolation and 2000V transient surge protection, with status LED indicators for the whole block and each individual circuit. The rugged enclosure and low‑leakage circuit design enable stable operation in high‑noise industrial environments, and it communicates with the main PLC via the Genius twisted‑pair bus.

Product Functions

  • 8 bidirectional discrete I/O circuits grouped into four isolated pairs, configurable as digital input or output
  • Collect on‑off signals from field switches, sensors and contactors, and transmit data to the PLC over Genius bus
  • Output switching signals to drive relays, solenoid valves and indicator lights, maximum 2A per channel
  • Optical isolation between field high‑voltage circuits and control logic to suppress crosstalk and electromagnetic interference
  • Front‑panel LED indicators display power status, I/O enable and each channel’s on/off state for quick on‑site inspection
  • Built‑in overheating and overload monitoring, and report fault status to the controller through the Genius network
  • Support multi‑drop bus topology, multiple I/O blocks can be connected on one Genius communication cable

Application Scenarios

  • Factory automation, assembly lines, conveyors and packaging machinery discrete control systems
  • Water treatment plants, pumping stations and HVAC damper and valve interlock control
  • Oil & gas, chemical and petrochemical skid control and safety discrete signal acquisition
  • Power plant auxiliary control, boiler local interlock and equipment status monitoring
  • Pulp, paper and metallurgy production line field distributed signal collection and output
  • Spare replacement and retrofit of legacy GE Genius I/O distributed control racks

Common Problems

  • Genius bus communication intermittent dropout:bus cable aging, loose terminals, incorrect terminal resistor or strong electromagnetic interference
  • Individual channel no input or no output:field wiring short‑circuit, burned isolation circuit or damaged output switching component
  • Module cannot be detected by PLC:bus transceiver chip failure, power supply abnormality or wrong Genius address setting
  • False signal triggering:ground loop interference, poor cable shielding or low‑leakage current under humid environment
  • Overheating alarm and unstable operation:dust accumulation on the circuit board, insufficient cabinet ventilation and heat dissipation deterioration
  • All outputs fail to energize:module internal power circuit fault or excessive total load current exceeding rated dissipation power
  • LED indicators not lighting after power‑on:external field power loss, damaged power fuse or internal power board aging
