Yokogawa CP461‑50 S1 Processor Module for CENTUM VP DCS
Product Description
The CP461‑50 S1 is a high‑performance rack‑mounted main processor module for Yokogawa CENTUM VP DCS Field Control Station (AFV30D / AFV30S / AFV400). It adopts a multi‑core RISC architecture with ECC memory and dual Gigabit Vnet/IP Ethernet ports. This module is the core controller of the FCS, supporting 1+1 redundant hot‑standby bumpless switchover. With conformal coated PCB and strong electromagnetic interference resistance, it is built for long‑term continuous operation in heavy‑duty industrial control cabinets and used as an upgraded replacement for CP451 series processors.

Product Functions
- Execute real‑time PID regulation, sequence control, interlock logic and advanced process control algorithms
- Collect analog and digital signals from I/O modules and output calculated control commands
- Dual redundant Gigabit Vnet/IP communication with operator stations, engineering stations and other FCS units
- 1+1 duplex hot‑standby configuration, automatic bumpless switchover when master CPU fails
- Store control configuration, alarm events and short‑term trend data in onboard flash memory
- Comprehensive self‑diagnosis for CPU, memory, backplane bus, power supply and network faults
- Hot‑swap maintenance without shutting down the whole control station during module replacement
Application Scenarios
- Oil & gas plants, refineries and LNG facilities equipped with Yokogawa CENTUM VP DCS
- Thermal power, combined‑cycle power plant boiler and turbine closed‑loop control systems
- Chemical, fertilizer and pharmaceutical continuous production process control
- Pulp & paper, metallurgy and large water treatment automation control stations
- Off‑shore platforms and pipeline compression skids requiring high‑availability redundant control
- DCS system upgrade and spare CPU replacement for aging AFV300/AFV400 racks
Common Problems
- Module not recognized by FCS:backplane connector oxidation, rack bus damage or incompatible firmware version
- Redundant switchover failure:firmware inconsistency and unsynchronized configuration between primary and standby CPU
- Intermittent network disconnection:loose Ethernet connector, aging cable or heavy electromagnetic interference
- Loss of control parameters or program corruption:abnormal power outage or flash memory degradation
- CPU overheating alarm:dust accumulation on circuit boards and insufficient cabinet ventilation
- High CPU load and slow control response:overcomplicated control logic, unreasonable cycle setting or program errors
- Power‑on startup abort:unstable 24VDC power supply or failure of onboard power circuits
