Woodward 9907‑014 (2301A) Speed and Load Sharing Controller
Product Description
9907‑014 belongs to Woodward 2301A series, it is an electronic speed and load‑sharing controller for diesel / gas prime movers and generator sets. Powered by 18‑40 VDC nominal 24 VDC, it receives speed signal from magnetic pickup sensor (MPU), outputs 0‑200 mA drive signal to fuel actuator. It supports standalone speed regulation and multi‑generator parallel load‑sharing operation, adopts surface‑mount metal chassis, wide temperature range‑40℃ ~ +70℃, widely used for engine‑driven generator control in power, oil & gas and marine industries.

Product Functions
- Closed‑loop speed governing: maintains stable engine speed according to set speed point via magnetic pickup speed feedback.
- Proportional load‑sharing control for multiple parallel‑running generator units to realize balanced load distribution.
- 0‑200 mA current output to drive Woodward‑series fuel actuators for fuel adjustment.
- On‑board potentiometers for local tuning: speed setting, droop adjustment, gain, stability and load‑sharing parameters.
- Supports remote speed trim potentiometer for external set‑point modification.
- Droop / isochronous control mode selectable for different generator grid‑connection requirements.
- Magnetic pickup input accepts 1.0‑30 VAC signal from gear‑tooth speed sensor.
- Provide interface for synchronizer module to assist generator synchronization before paralleling to busbar.
Application Scenarios
- Industrial diesel and gas generator sets for continuous or backup power supply.
- Oil & gas site prime‑mover driven equipment and on‑site power generation system.
- Marine vessel generator room multi‑unit parallel power plant control.
- Emergency standby power plant for hospital, data‑center and critical infrastructure.
- Retrofit and spare‑part replacement for legacy 2301‑series Woodward governor installations.
Common Problems & Troubleshooting
- Controller no response, actuator no output: Check 24 VDC power input, terminal wiring and fuse condition; verify correct power polarity, reverse polarity may damage internal circuit.
- Engine overspeed or hunting speed oscillation: Readjust gain and stability potentiometer; inspect magnetic pickup gap and signal amplitude; check mechanical linkage sticking of fuel actuator.
- Cannot pick‑up speed signal: Measure MPU AC voltage at controller terminals; check pickup installation gap, shielded cable integrity and grounding requirement.
- Poor load‑sharing performance in parallel operation: Confirm all units set to isochronous mode; check load‑sharing interconnection wiring; re‑tune gain and droop parameters for each governor.
- Actuator cannot reach full‑fuel or minimum‑fuel position: Check 0‑200 mA output loop, actuator coil continuity; inspect short‑circuit or open‑circuit on actuator wiring harness.
- Intermittent speed fluctuation: Check vibration‑loose terminals; ensure speed‑sensor shield cable is isolated from high‑power cable; avoid ground‑loop interference.
- Over‑heating fault: Verify cabinet ventilation; do not cover controller heat‑dissipation area; keep ambient temperature within‑40℃ ~ +70℃ operating range.
