GE IC693CPU374-HX is a firmware revision HX high-performance single-slot central processing unit belonging to GE Fanuc Series 90-30 CPU374 PLUS PLC family, adopting 133MHz AMD SC520 586-class industrial processor. This module occupies one rack slot of Series 90-30 baseplate, equipped with 240KB configurable user memory for control logic, analog registers and data storage, supporting up to 2048 discrete input and 2048 discrete output points, and maximum 8 expansion baseplates for distributed I/O layout. It integrates dual auto-sensing 10/100BASE-TX RJ45 Ethernet ports with internal layer 2 switch, eliminating extra external network switches for PLC daisy-chain networking. It consumes 7.4W power at 5VDC backplane supply, with conformal coated PCB for dust and moisture resistance, operating temperature range 0°C ~ +60°C and storage range -40°C ~ +85°C. Built-in lithium battery backs up real-time clock and RAM data to prevent configuration loss during power outages. This CPU supports multiple industrial programming languages and mainstream industrial communication protocols including Modbus/TCP, SRTP and EGD (Ethernet Global Data), compatible with LogicMaster and PACSystems Machine Edition programming software. IC693CPU374-HX is an early stable firmware version of CPU374 PLUS, widely deployed as core controller for medium-sized process and discrete automation systems, and still serves as critical spare replacement for legacy GE 90-30 control racks worldwide.

- High-speed logic execution: 0.15ms scan time per 1000 Boolean instructions, built-in floating-point arithmetic for analog closed-loop PID control calculations
- Dual integrated Ethernet ports with internal auto-switch to realize PLC interconnection, HMI access and SCADA data upload without additional communication modules
- Multi-protocol Ethernet communication: support Modbus/TCP client & server, SRTP secure transmission, EGD periodic real-time data exchange between multiple PLC stations
- 240KB flexible memory allocation, configurable storage space for ladder logic, analog registers (%AI/%AQ), discrete coils and historical fault data logs
- Scalable I/O management: control up to 8 baseplates and 4096 total discrete I/O points, support Genius remote I/O racks for long-distance field equipment control
- Battery-backed RAM and RTC to retain system parameters, production recipe data and accurate time stamps after full power failure
- Complete hardware self-diagnosis: backplane communication detection, memory error check, Ethernet link status monitoring, fault code display via front panel LED indicators
- EZ Store offline program download function, allowing control program loading without connecting a PC programming terminal on site
- Compatible with standard Series 90-30 peripheral modules: analog I/O, thermocouple modules, relay output cards and special motion control coprocessors
- Support SNP/SNPX protocols via rack power supply RS485 port for connection with legacy GE touch screens and field operator panels
System watchdog timer that triggers CPU reset automatically if control logic program stalls or abnormal operation occurs to ensure equipment safety interlock

- Thermal Power Auxiliary Control: Boiler water supply pump, induced draft fan, ash removal system interlock and parameter monitoring control racks
- Petrochemical Refineries: Pipeline valve sequence control, reaction tank temperature/pressure closed-loop regulation and safety interlock logic
- Automotive Manufacturing Lines: Assembly conveyor, injection molding machine, stamping press and robotic auxiliary equipment control
- Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants: Pump station group control, chemical dosing automatic adjustment and drainage flow monitoring systems
- Mining Processing Plants: Ore crushing, conveyor transportation and underground ventilation fan centralized automation control
- Food & Beverage Production: Filling, packaging, sterilization process sequential control and batch recipe management
- Building Central Utilities: HVAC air conditioning, water supply and fire smoke exhaust linkage control systems for large factories
Legacy Automation Retrofit Projects: Spare CPU replacement for aging GE Series 90-30 control cabinets during factory system upgrade transformation

- Q: IC693CPU374-HX front panel EOK indicator stays off after power on, PLC fails to run programs?
A: Possible causes include insufficient rack power supply, loose CPU backplane connector, corrupted flash firmware, depleted backup battery or short-circuit on I/O modules; re-seat the CPU and check baseplate power load capacity. - Q: Two Ethernet ports cannot communicate with HMI/SCADA, link LED flashes abnormally?
A: Verify correct static IP address, subnet mask and gateway settings; replace damaged CAT5e shielded cables; check network broadcast storm or IP address conflict on local area network; reset CPU Ethernet configuration parameters. - Q: Can IC693CPU374-HX support hot swapping when the control rack remains powered?
A: Hot swap is not permitted. Cut off the entire rack power supply before removing or inserting the CPU module to avoid backplane bus short-circuit, CPU hardware burnout and accidental field equipment misoperation. - Q: All memory data and program logic are lost after power cycle, battery has been replaced?
A: Check poor contact of lithium battery holder on CPU PCB; confirm battery voltage is above 3V; verify RAM backup enable jumper setting is in correct position; re-download complete program and store to flash memory permanently. - Q: Modbus/TCP client fails to read data from third-party slave instruments via Ethernet?
A: Confirm Modbus function code compatibility; check slave device IP accessibility via ping test; adjust Modbus communication timeout and retry parameters in CPU configuration software. - Q: Is IC693CPU374-HX still available for new automation project construction?
A: GE has discontinued Series 90-30 platform production; IC693CPU374-HX is only supplied as refurbished, surplus or used spare parts for existing equipment maintenance; PACSystems RX3i series CPUs are recommended for new projects. - Q: PLC scan cycle becomes extremely long with frequent program execution delays during production operation?
A: Optimize redundant ladder logic segments; reduce excessive EGD real-time data exchange volume; check for abnormal analog signal jamming leading to repeated PID recalculation; expand memory allocation for data registers.
