Product Description
Product: GE MIFIINI01E00HI00 – Multilin Digital Feeder Protection Relay
GE Grid Solutions MIFIINI01E00HI00 Three-Phase Feeder Protection & Control Relay for Medium Voltage Power Distribution
Product Description

GE MIFIINI01E00HI00 is a legacy digital feeder protection relay developed by GE Multilin (GE Grid Solutions), designed for three-phase four-wire medium voltage distribution networks. This discontinued ANSI/IEEE C37.90 compliant protective relay provides integrated fault detection, circuit breaker control, and measurement functions for distribution feeders, transformers, industrial motors and generator auxiliary circuits. It supports a maximum rated operating voltage of 600V AC, 60A continuous input current and 250A short-time withstand current capacity. The unit adopts compact wall/cabinet mounting housing with built-in signal isolation circuits, conformal coated PCB to resist dust, moisture and weak corrosive gas in power substations. Equipped with multi-status LED indicators and configurable hard relay outputs, it supports standard industrial communication protocols including DNP3 for SCADA remote data upload. Though this model is no longer in active production, it is still widely used as spare replacement equipment in old power plants, refineries and utility distribution stations, with GE P14N and 350 series relays as official modern alternative models.

Core Product Functions
  • Full set of ANSI standard protection logic: phase overcurrent (TOC/IOC), ground fault protection, thermal overload, overvoltage and undervoltage trip protection
  • Configurable automatic reclosing function to restore feeder power supply after transient short-circuit faults and reduce power outage duration
  • Integrated circuit breaker open/close control logic with interlock protection to prevent mis-operation of medium voltage breakers
  • Three-phase voltage, current, power factor and energy measurement for local power monitoring without extra transducers
  • Multiple programmable fault alarm relay outputs to trigger on-site warning lights, buzzers or upper system interlock signals
  • Complete channel self-diagnosis to detect PT/CT signal loss, internal circuit failure, over-temperature and wiring disconnection faults
  • DNP3 serial communication interface to transmit real-time measurement data, fault records and alarm codes to SCADA/DCS control systems
  • Adjustable protection trip time thresholds and curve groups to match different feeder, motor and transformer load characteristics
  • Front panel LED status lights for power running, fault trip, breaker position and communication abnormal visual indication
  • Electrical isolation between CT/PT measurement input circuits and control output loops to suppress ground loop and electromagnetic interference

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
  • Q: Is GE MIFIINI01E00HI00 still available for new project procurement?
A: This relay model has been officially discontinued by GE Grid Solutions. It can only be purchased as used/refurbished spare parts; P14N and 350 series relays are recommended for new construction projects.
  • Q: The relay continuously triggers ground fault trip without actual field short-circuit faults, what are the causes?
A: Main reasons include unbalanced CT wiring, damaged CT secondary insulation, incorrect ground fault protection threshold parameter setting or severe ground loop interference on measurement cables.
  • Q: Why cannot SCADA system read measurement data via DNP3 communication?
A: Check serial wiring polarity, station address and baud rate configuration; verify no bus short-circuit; confirm communication function parameter is enabled in relay setting menu.
  • Q: Can this relay be used for high voltage transmission line main protection?
A: No, it is designed for medium voltage distribution feeder backup protection only, and lacks distance protection logic required for high-voltage transmission lines.
  • Q: Is hot swapping supported for MIFIINI01E00HI00 during cabinet live operation?
A: Hot swap is prohibited. Cut off CT secondary circuit and relay control power supply before disassembly to avoid CT open-circuit high voltage hazards and accidental breaker tripping.
  • Q: How to solve inaccurate three-phase current measurement readings on the relay?
A: Inspect CT wiring tightness, check for CT saturation under heavy load, calibrate CT ratio parameters inside relay, and separate measurement cables from high-current power cables to reduce interference.
