The Agilent E1406A is a C-size, 1-slot VXI message-based commander that serves as the Slot 0 controller and Resource Manager for VXI mainframes, acting as a VMEbus system controller and GPIB (IEEE-488)-to-VXIbus interface to enable transparent communication with any manufacturer’s message-based VXI modules. It features 2 MB RAM, 1.75 MB Flash memory, and 512 KB shared memory, with downloadable drivers for programming Agilent register-based devices via SCPI (Standard Commands for Programmable Instruments), translating SCPI commands for register-based instruments to simplify programming.
