Product Description

Woodward SPM‑D1145B/LSR (SPMD1145BLSR) Synchronizer & Load‑Sharing Controller

Product Description

The SPM‑D1145B/LSR is a microprocessor‑driven digital synchronizing and load‑sharing controller designed and produced by Woodward, belonging to the SPM‑D11 product family. It adopts panel‑mount structure with local LCD and keypad, and provides precise voltage, frequency and phase monitoring for generator paralleling. The LSR version is optimized for load sharing and reverse‑power protection functions. With strong EMC anti‑interference and wide operating temperature range, it can work stably in generator control cabinets on land or marine sites. It is widely used as spare replacement control parts for diesel and gas generator power management systems.

Product Functions

  • Automatic generator synchronization, monitoring voltage, frequency and phase angle to achieve circuit‑breaker closing at the optimal moment
  • Active and reactive load sharing for multiple paralleled generators, adjustable droop characteristic and load stabilization control
  • Reverse‑power protection, over/under voltage and over/under frequency supervision to protect generator sets from abnormal grid conditions
  • Analog bias outputs and relay contact outputs to send control commands to the governor and AVR
  • Dead‑bus closure function and check‑sync supervision for safe parallel switching operation
  • Modbus RTU serial communication, uploading real‑time measurement values and fault event logs to SCADA system
  • Local man‑machine interface for parameter setting, running status display and fault alarm indication

Application Scenarios

  • Multi‑generator parallel power control for industrial self‑owned power stations and CHP units
  • Marine ships and offshore platforms with several diesel generators running in parallel
  • Data centers, hospitals and other important facilities with standby generator groups
  • Oil & gas, mining and remote microgrid power generation and distribution control panels
  • Diesel engine and gas turbine generator sets requiring synchronization and balanced load distribution
  • Spare replacement and technical renovation of old Woodward SPM‑D11 series control modules

Common Problems

  • Synchronization process cannot finish:incorrect parameter thresholds, faulty PT sampling wiring or too narrow phase‑angle window setting
  • Unbalanced load distribution among generators:mismatched droop settings, damaged analog output cables or inconsistent governor response characteristics
  • Modbus communication unstable or disconnected:lack of terminal resistor, ground loop interference or wrong slave address configuration
  • LCD screen black and keypad failure:loose front‑panel connecting cable, unstable auxiliary power supply or firmware crash
  • Mis‑triggering of reverse‑power or frequency protection:distorted sampling signals, noise interference or improper protection limit values
  • No control signal output to governor or AVR:internal analog drive circuit damage, wrong working mode selection or relay contact burnout
  • Intermittent random fault alarms:dust and moisture accumulated inside the unit, corroded terminals and aging electronic components
