ABB RXTUG 22H (1MRK000592‑A) Galvanically Isolated DC‑DC Converter Module
Product Description
The RXTUG 22H is an ABB rack‑mounted isolated DC‑DC converter, widely used as auxiliary power supply for ABB protection relays and substation IEDs. It accepts a wide DC input of 24–250 VDC and provides stable, galvanically isolated regulated DC output. The compact plug‑in design fits standard relay racks. The PCB adopts conformal coating to resist humidity, dust, vibration and electromagnetic interference in substation switchgear. It is commonly stocked as spare replacement power hardware for power plant and distribution substation protection panels.

Product Functions
- Wide‑range DC‑DC conversion, converting unstable 24–250 VDC auxiliary supply into clean, constant low‑voltage DC for relay electronic circuits
- Galvanic isolation between input and output loops to suppress surge noise and eliminate ground‑loop interference
- Built‑in overvoltage, overcurrent, short‑circuit and overtemperature protection to avoid damage to downstream protection IEDs
- Front‑panel LED indicator showing power status and fault alarm for quick on‑site inspection
- Low ripple output, providing high‑quality auxiliary power for precision measurement and logic circuits of protection relays
- Plug‑and‑play rack installation, hot‑swap capable in compatible relay cabinets for convenient maintenance and replacement
Application Scenarios
- Power plant generator and transformer protection panels as auxiliary power for ABB relay units
- Utility distribution substations, medium‑voltage feeder protection and control IED power supply
- Industrial power plants, chemical and mining internal MV switchgear protection cabinets
- Wind farm and solar power station grid‑connection protection and monitoring systems
- Substation renovation projects upgrading old relay power supply units
- Spare replacement and maintenance retrofit of aging ABB RXTUG series converter modules
Common Problems
- No output and power LED off:abnormal DC input voltage, loose rack backplane contact, internal fuse blown or primary circuit damage
- Output voltage unstable or excessive ripple:input voltage fluctuation, aging electrolytic capacitors or internal filter circuit failure
- Over‑temperature fault alarm:dust accumulated inside module, poor cabinet ventilation and long‑term continuous heavy‑load operation
- Intermittent power dropout:oxidized backplane connector, poor vibration resistance or cold solder joint failure
- Downstream relay works abnormally while module LED is normal:isolation circuit degradation, output load capacity decline or secondary loop leakage current
- Short‑circuit protection locks up and cannot recover automatically:persistent short circuit on the output wiring or internal power transistor damage
- Module fails after long‑term storage:component aging caused by dampness, PCB corrosion and degraded electrolytic capacitance
