GE IS200VTURH1B Primary Turbine Protection Board for Mark VI Speedtronic System
Product Description
The IS200VTURH1B is a VME single‑slot primary turbine protection circuit board developed by GE for the Mark VI Speedtronic gas and steam turbine control system, also known as VTUR board. It adopts conformal coated PCB and industrial signal processing circuits, supporting TMR triple modular redundant safety architecture. The board receives magnetic pickup speed pulses, shaft voltage/current signals and flame detector inputs, executes independent safety trip logic and communicates with the main controller via the VME backplane bus. Three front‑panel LED status indicators provide local fault diagnosis. It is built for long‑term continuous operation in power plant cabinets with vibration, dust and heavy electromagnetic interference, widely used as critical spare replacement hardware for legacy GE turbine safety racks.

Product Functions
- Collect 4‑channel magnetic pickup pulse signals, calculate turbine rotating speed and realize primary overspeed emergency trip protection
- Monitor shaft induced voltage and shaft current, generate alarms when values exceed preset thresholds to prevent shaft electrical damage
- Support 8‑channel Geiger‑Mueller flame detector monitoring for gas turbine flame loss protection
- Drive three primary overspeed trip relays through the TRPx terminal board to control turbine shutdown solenoid valves
- Execute safety protection logic independently of normal governor control, improving the reliability of emergency shutdown
- Transmit real‑time measurement data and diagnostic fault codes to the main turbine controller over the VME backplane bus
- Complete onboard hardware self‑diagnosis for speed input circuits, flame channels, power supply and communication failures
- Front‑panel LED indicators display power, running status and fault alarms for convenient on‑site maintenance inspection
Application Scenarios
- Thermal power plant gas turbine and steam turbine control cabinets equipped with GE Mark VI Speedtronic systems
- Combined‑cycle power units and large synchronous generator safety monitoring and protection racks
- Off‑shore oil & gas platform turbine and large compressor safety control systems
- Natural gas pipeline compressor skids and petrochemical large rotating machinery overspeed protection
- Industrial heavy‑duty drive turbines and process gas turbine safety interlock control
- Spare replacement and technical retrofit of aging GE Mark VI turbine protection racks
Common Problems
- Speed measurement loss or unstable speed readings:magnetic pickup sensor damage, signal cable interference, aging pulse conditioning circuit or loose wiring terminals
- False overspeed trip alarm:electromagnetic noise interference, signal distortion or component parameter drift without actual overspeed
- Flame detector channel persistent fault alarm:flame sensor failure, external 335VDC supply abnormality or input isolation circuit burnout
- Shaft voltage/current monitoring failure:degraded signal sampling circuit, ground‑loop interference or terminal corrosion
- Intermittent VME backplane communication dropout:oxidized backplane connector pins, PCB dust contamination or bus transceiver chip aging
- Trip relay output abnormality:internal relay contact burnout, drive circuit damage, unable to execute emergency shutdown command
- Continuous hardware diagnostic alarm:electrolytic capacitor aging, poor cabinet heat dissipation and overheating or hidden circuit board damage
