Product Description

GE AL129A‑CD10115216 Chopper Converter Power Supply Module

Product Description

The AL129A‑CD10115216 is a rack‑mounted chopper‑type isolated switching power supply, originally designed by Alstom and later integrated into GE Grid Solutions product line. It adopts a 3U plug‑in metal housing and is built for Alspa CE2000 / CE3000 turbine control racks. The module accepts wide‑range AC input and provides galvanically isolated 5VDC and 12VDC outputs to feed CPU boards, I/O cards and communication circuits. With comprehensive built‑in protection and rugged industrial design, it is widely used as a critical spare part for legacy power plant turbine control systems.

Product Functions

  • Convert wide‑range AC input into stable, isolated 5VDC and 12VDC low‑voltage DC power
  • Supply power to rack controller, analog/digital I/O modules and fieldbus communication circuits
  • Built‑in overvoltage, overcurrent, short‑circuit and overtemperature automatic protection
  • Onboard power health monitoring and self‑diagnosis for power anomalies
  • Support redundant parallel operation to improve the availability of critical control racks
  • Backplane plug‑in structure for hot‑swap replacement without shutting down the whole rack
  • Suppress output ripple and electrical noise to reduce interference with adjacent control boards

Application Scenarios

  • GE / Alstom Alspa CE2000 and CE3000 gas & steam turbine control racks in power plants
  • Combined‑cycle power generation unit and thermal power plant control cabinets
  • Hydroelectric generator excitation and turbine safety control systems
  • HVDC transmission and substation automation control panels
  • Power station equipment retrofitting and spare replacement of original Alstom control modules
  • Critical industrial safety interlock and machinery protection control racks

Common Problems

  • No DC output after power‑on:input circuit failure, blown internal fuse or rectifier component damage
  • Output voltage drift and instability:aging electrolytic capacitors or poor ventilation cooling
  • Overtemperature fault alarm:cooling airflow blocked by dust and high cabinet ambient temperature
  • Intermittent power dropout:backplane connector oxidation or vibration‑induced poor contact
  • Repeated short‑circuit protection trigger:short circuit on output lines or failure of downstream I/O boards
  • Abnormal redundant power switching:parameter mismatch between two parallel power supply modules
  • High ripple noise disturbing I/O signals:degradation of internal filter circuits
