KONGSBERG RPC420 317114 Remote Process Controller
Product Description
RPC420, part number 317114, is a remote process communication processor developed by Kongsberg Maritime for K-CHIEF 500 / K-CHIEF 600 marine integrated automation system. It acts as a local sub-controller and communication gateway in distributed marine control network, managing a cluster of remote I/O modules. Equipped with embedded ARM processor and real-time operating system, it supports dual redundant CAN fieldbus and 10/100Mbps Ethernet interface. Rated power supply is 24VDC ±10%, typical power consumption 8W. With conformal coated PCB, it is built to withstand vibration, humidity and salt fog onboard vessels, IP20 for cabinet installation, and can support up to 256 I/O points by connecting RIO420 series I/O expansion modules.

Key Functions
- Local logic processing and data collection for connected RIO420 remote I/O modules
- Dual redundant CAN bus communication to ensure reliable data transmission with main RCU controller
- Ethernet port for system configuration, data upload and diagnostic access
- Built-in self-diagnosis, watchdog function and fault event logging
- Support marine proprietary communication protocol, TCP/IP and optional OPC UA
- Galvanic isolation on communication ports to suppress electromagnetic interference
- Wide operating temperature range: -25°C ~ +70°C, marine anti-vibration and salt mist resistance
Application Scenarios
- Vessel engine room monitoring and auxiliary machinery control system
- Offshore platform automation, DP dynamic positioning control cabinets
- Ship alarm monitoring system and cargo / ballast control
- Kongsberg K-CHIEF 500 / 600 distributed remote I/O substation
- Marine power management and safety related signal acquisition network
