Product Description

Emerson(GE Fanuc) IC698CRE030 PACSystems RX7i Redundant CPU Module

Product Description

The IC698CRE030 is a high‑performance hot‑standby redundant central processing unit for Emerson PACSystems RX7i VME64 rack system. It adopts a 600MHz Pentium‑M processor, equipped with 64MB battery‑backed SRAM and 64MB non‑volatile flash memory. The module provides dual 10/100Mbps Ethernet ports and three isolated serial communication interfaces, and supports HSB hot‑standby redundancy together with RMX redundant memory modules. The conformal coated circuit board and industrial hardware design allow long‑term continuous operation in control cabinets with vibration, dust and strong electromagnetic interference. It serves as the core controller for large‑scale, high‑availability industrial automation systems and is widely used as spare replacement parts for existing RX7i racks.

Product Functions

  • Execute real‑time control programs, supporting Ladder Diagram, Structured Text, FBD and C language programming
  • Hot‑standby redundant operation, realizing bumpless automatic switchover between primary and backup CPUs during faults
  • Dual Ethernet channels support Modbus TCP, EGD, SNTP and built‑in web server for remote monitoring and FTP access
  • Three isolated serial ports support Modbus RTU and SNP protocols for connection with HMI, field instruments and third‑party devices
  • Communicate with various RX7i I/O modules and intelligent boards through VME64 backplane bus to collect field signals and output control commands
  • Store user application programs, configuration parameters, alarm logs and historical data in flash and battery‑backed RAM
  • Comprehensive hardware self‑diagnosis for processor, memory, Ethernet, serial channels, backplane bus and power supply failures
  • Front‑panel LED indicators display power, run status, network link and fault alarm information for on‑site maintenance inspection

Application Scenarios

  • Oil & gas, refinery and petrochemical process control, compressor skid and pipeline monitoring systems
  • Thermal power, gas turbine and hydropower plant auxiliary control and balance‑of‑plant automation
  • Chemical, pulp & paper, metallurgy and food continuous production line high‑reliability control systems
  • Water treatment plants, pumping stations and municipal large‑scale automated control projects
  • Critical manufacturing equipment, material handling and large assembly line automation requiring uninterrupted operation
  • Spare replacement and technical renovation of aging GE PACSystems RX7i distributed control racks

Common Problems

  • Controller fails to boot after power‑on:abnormal 5V backplane power supply, battery aging, flash memory corruption or VME connector oxidation
  • Redundant switchover failure:firmware version mismatch, unsynchronized application data or RMX redundant link communication error
  • Ethernet intermittent disconnection:RJ45 connector contamination, network cable aging, incorrect IP configuration or switch port failure
  • Serial communication unstable:RS232/RS485 terminal corrosion, ground loop interference, wrong baud rate or protocol parameter setting
  • Loss of programs and retain data:backup battery voltage drop, unexpected power outage or flash memory degradation
  • Self‑diagnosis persistent hardware alarm:dust accumulation, poor cabinet ventilation and overheating caused by blocked heat sink
  • Module unrecognized by VME rack:damaged backplane pin contacts, incompatible firmware or slot hardware fault
