FOXBORO 43AP‑PA42C Pneumatic Indicating Controller
Product Description
43AP‑PA42C is a classic panel‑mounted pneumatic indicating controller of Foxboro 43AP series. It adopts pure pneumatic mechanical bellows and flapper‑nozzle structure without electronic components. It receives 3‑15psi pneumatic measurement signal, compares it with local set point, and generates 3‑15psi pneumatic output signal to drive pneumatic control valves. The front panel integrates indication gauges for process variable, setpoint and output pressure. This intrinsically safe instrument is suitable for explosive and high‑electromagnetic‑interference industrial sites, and supports PID continuous control and bumpless auto/manual switching.

Product Functions
- Real‑time comparison between measured pneumatic signal and manually set target value
- Complete proportional, integral and derivative (PID) pneumatic control calculation
- Local display of process value, set point and control output pressure via dial gauges
- Bumpless switching between automatic control and manual output adjustment
- Output 3‑15psi air pressure signal to position pneumatic actuator and regulating valve
- Intrinsically safe pneumatic design, no electric spark risk in hazardous areas
Application Scenarios
- Oil refinery, natural gas plant and offshore platform hazardous‑area control loops
- Chemical reactors, distillation towers and heat exchanger temperature, pressure and flow control
- Power plant boiler drum level, steam pressure and auxiliary process pneumatic control systems
- Pulp & paper, pharmaceutical and food factories with traditional pneumatic instrumentation
- Plants requiring explosion‑safe local control without electronic controllers
Common Problems
- Unstable output pressure and continuous oscillation: Dirty flapper‑nozzle assembly, contaminated instrument air or improper PID parameter tuning.
- Control deviation cannot be eliminated: Bellows fatigue and leakage, air supply pressure fluctuation or mechanical linkage wear.
- Gauge pointer stuck or no indication: Blocked small‑bore air passage, damaged indicator mechanism or moisture condensation inside instrument.
- Failure of bumpless auto/manual transfer: Internal balance bellows leakage or manual regulating spring aging.
- No pneumatic output response: Instrument air supply cut off, nozzle blockage or main relay diaphragm rupture.
