Product Brief Description
The Rolls-Royce Weidmuller RRAIO16 is a rugged 16-channel mixed analog input and output module developed for the Rolls-Royce Helicon X3 marine vessel control and alarm monitoring system. Co-designed by Rolls-Royce Marine and Weidmüller, this marine-grade I/O card serves as a field interface to collect analog sensor signals and output control commands. It is built to withstand heavy vibration, humidity and wide temperature fluctuations on ships and offshore assets.

Product Functions
- 16 configurable analog channels for 4-20mA current signal acquisition and control output
- Supports frequency / pulse input for engine tachometers and flow transmitters on selected channels
- Converts field analog signals into digital data and communicates with the Helicon X3 main control unit
- Onboard hardware diagnostics for wire break, short circuit, overrange and module health fault detection
- Galvanic isolation between field side and control bus to suppress marine electrical interference
- Integrated alarm signal processing for machinery monitoring and vessel safety management
Application Scenarios
- Marine vessel propulsion control and main engine monitoring system
- Offshore platform machinery alarm and condition monitoring
- Shipboard auxiliary systems: cooling, lubrication, fuel and tank level measurement
- Marine power generation and generator set parameter monitoring
- Cargo ship, tanker and FPSO centralised alarm monitoring system (AMS)
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Which control system does RRAIO16 belong to?
A: It is dedicated I/O module for Rolls-Royce Helicon X3 marine control and alarm system.
Q: What signals can RRAIO16 handle?
A: It mainly supports 4-20mA analog signals; partial channels accept pulse/frequency inputs for speed sensors.
Q: Is RRAIO16 marine certified?
A: Yes, it complies with marine industry standards for vibration, shock and humidity for shipboard deployment.
Q: Can I use RRAIO16 for land-based DCS system?
A: It is engineered for marine Helicon X3 platform, not designed for general land industrial DCS.
Q: What will trigger RRAIO16 module fault alarm?
A> Wiring failure, overloaded signal, communication interruption or internal hardware damage will trigger module fault alarms in Helicon X3.
