GE IS220PRTDH1A RTD Temperature Input I/O Pack
Brief Product Description
The IS220PRTDH1A is a dedicated RTD temperature acquisition I/O pack designed for GE Mark VIe Speedtronic turbine control systems. It captures resistance signals from Pt100 RTD temperature sensors installed on turbine bearings, exhaust pipelines and generator windings. The module converts resistance signals into accurate digital temperature values, communicates with UCS controllers through dual redundant Ethernet, and supports hot-standby redundant deployment. Conformal coated PCB provides stable operation in harsh plant environments, paired with dedicated terminal boards for field RTD wiring.
Core Product Functions

- Multi-channel resistance signal collection from standard Pt100 RTD temperature sensors
- Support 2-wire, 3-wire wiring compensation to eliminate measurement error caused by long cable resistance
- High-precision signal conditioning and A/D conversion to output accurate real-time temperature data
- Dual redundant Ethernet communication channels for reliable data transmission to Mark VIe main controllers
- Hot standby redundant mode with seamless bumpless switchover between primary and backup packs
- Built-in channel isolation, overvoltage and short-circuit protection for all RTD input loops
- Automatic self-diagnosis for sensor open circuit, short circuit, communication failure and internal hardware faults
- Transmit temperature data for overheat protection interlock, real-time monitoring and historical data recording
- Front panel LED indicators to display power, network link and channel abnormal alarm status
- Timestamp all over-temperature alarms and module faults for post-failure troubleshooting analysis
Application Scenarios
- Combined cycle power plant gas turbine bearing and exhaust gas temperature monitoring
- Steam turbine generator winding, bearing and cooling water temperature detection systems
- Offshore oil & gas platform gas turbine unit temperature protection cabinets
- Industrial cogeneration waste heat turbine temperature monitoring control racks
- Petrochemical compressor drive turbine overheat safety monitoring panels
- Replacement spare I/O pack for maintenance of aging Mark VIe turbine control systems
FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
- Q: Fault LED turns red after power on, no temperature data uploaded to the controller?
A: Check incomplete backplane insertion, unstable 24VDC rack power, shorted RTD field cables or mismatched firmware versions. - Q: Channel keeps triggering open-circuit alarm while the Pt100 sensor is intact?
A: Check loose terminal wiring, broken sensor cable cores, wrong wiring mode selection or excessive lead resistance. - Q: Can IS220PRTDH1A be hot swapped while the Mark VIe rack is powered on?
A: Only standby redundant backup packs support online hot swap. Active primary modules need full rack power cut-off before removal to avoid protection interlock misoperation. - Q: Temperature readings show frequent jumps and unstable fluctuations during operation?
A: Enable digital filtering in control software; separate RTD signal cables from high-power cables to reduce electromagnetic interference. - Q: Redundant switchover fails when primary PRTD pack reports hardware error?
A: Inspect dual Ethernet cable connections; unify firmware versions of primary and backup packs; reconfigure redundancy settings via Mark VIe Toolbox. Q: Is this module still manufactured for new power plant turbine projects?
A: This legacy Mark VIe I/O pack has been discontinued by GE. Only surplus and refurbished spare units are supplied for existing unit maintenance.
